Don’t Ask Me, I don’t know


is never the best answer to any question. Although it is a good intro to an Ozzie Osbourne ditty.

Everyone goes through changes
Looking to find the truth
Don’t look at me for answers
Don’t ask me – I don’t know

But in HR, we are looked to – to find the truth. The truth generally depends upon where you stand to the interest at hand. In which case, which truth trumps another truth?

Which truth takes perspective? The self-serving perspective of the employee v the greater good serving perspective of the employer? i submit that the employer’s perspective trumps any employee’s unique perspective. We all always want our own deal.

The point then becomes to ask questions until a reliable consistent story is revealed. And then again, the truth is dependent upon who says what & when.
